about me & the show
about me & the show
The MOOD Podcast embarks on an unfiltered exploration of the diverse cultures, untold stories, and philosophical depths within the world of photography and visual arts, fostering genuine connections and insightful dialogues with artists and creative thinkers worldwide. We unravel the complexities of creativity, forging connections and sharing insights to inspire and enrich the creative journey.
My name is Matt Jacob, and I’m a photographer who's passionate about bringing the beauty of diverse cultures to life through my lens. When I’m not taking photos I love to share some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way through my education channels, as well as have deeper, more meaningful conversations with artists around the world through my podcast.
As the host of 'The MOOD Podcast', I create and share various exciting content that reflects my insights and opinions. My mission is to spread inspiration, self-development and philosophical thought regarding photography and the visual arts, to fellow artists and creators.
In the show, we dive deep into the world of photography and the visual arts, with guests from all around the creative industry, across all parts of the globe, sharing inspiring stories and experiences that will leave you wanting more. With years of experience and a passion for storytelling, I team up with other special artists from around the world to showcase insights, experiences and opinions within the diverse and sometimes controversial photography world.
our goal is to be the number 1 visual arts podcast in the world by the end of 2025.
why I do it
To talk.
To forge connections with fellow artists.
To initiate profound, insightful discussions with individuals who might feel isolated or detached from the faces behind the lenses.
Crucially, to partake in genuine and authentic dialogues delving into the 'why' behind every action taken by photographers, filmmakers, and artists alike.
The dwindling art of conversation is especially palpable in today's highly digitised world, and within the visual arts domain, characterized by an even more pronounced digital landscape. People, including myself, crave authentic connections that transcend the superficiality of viral short-form videos, which have become synonymous with those relentlessly chasing algorithms, especially within the realm of photography.

“I often find myself in need of one of three things: education, a deep meaningful conversation, or an inspiring moment. Matt Jacob provides all three at the highest level. I’ve had the pleasure of being a guest on a good number of podcasts over the years, and the two times I’ve been lucky enough to sit down with Matt, I’ve felt comfortable enough to bring some of my best thoughts to the table. Not only that, but I also had a good laugh and gained a new perspective through his incredible photography. Matt's ability to capture and convey deep cultural insights through his lenses is truly inspiring. Don’t hesitate to engage with his work; it’s a fulfilling experience.” ______ Luke Jackson-Clarke
“Amongst the amount of noise of podcasts out there Matt really stands out and brings a uniqueness to the table with his skills of pulling the gold from conversations. I am not sure if you can teach this type of conversing. Matt holds 100% presence and doesn’t take a surface level answer or agree with you just because the host should (which I love). Matt challenges common beliefs and understandings of life, photography, creativity and being and I guarantee if you drop in for just a few episodes you will realize how deep his conversation and understanding of the creative space and world really go.” ______ Mikele Kuhar
“I've had the immense pleasure of knowing and collaborating with Matt both in the field and through his captivating podcast. Matt’s photography transcends mere images; each portrait is a journey into the soul of cultures around the globe, telling stories that words cannot capture. His ability to connect with diverse people, understanding their essence, and sharing that with the world is truly world-class. Additionally, Matt’s podcast is a treasure trove of insights. The debates and discussions there not only enlighten but also challenge our perceptions, pushing the boundaries of what we understand about photography and the world around us. Matt is not just a photographer; they are an inspirational force in the art world." ______ Mike Will
